Read the message and listen to the music!
How many times have you heard this question:
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Have you thought much about it? Youth, basically, is a time to be care-free. You don't have adult responsibilities. You depend on your parents to supply most of your needs. This is good.
Yet, youth is the best time to learn and to prepare for the future. It is a well-known fact that even small children learn languages and even mathematical and computer skills much faster and easier than adults. So take advantage of this time when your brain is so supple and receptive. Don't waste your school years!
You may have seen in concerts or even on TV the talents of other young people. It did not "just happen." It took work and self-discipline. It also took setting a goal and the persistent determination and commitment to REACH that goal. But once reached you can say, "It was worth it."
When I was but a toddler, we lived in Santa Monica, California, just two or three miles from that famous child star Shirley Temple. (See pictures below.) Now I am certainly not advising youth to go to Hollywood, not in this day especially. But the point is that Shirley Temple made use of her youthful talents and even today people are finding her charm and talents very entertaining, and an inspiration showing to what goals youth can attain.
Years later Shirley Temple Black became a
U. S. Ambassador

When I was in grammar grades, a classmate became sick and had to stay out of school for a whole year. But he wasted no time. During that time he read almost a whole set of encyclopedias. It would be interesting to know what he has become today.
Have you ever heard the hymn--
"Joy to the world!
the Lord is come!
Let earth receive
receive her King;
Let ev'ry heart
prepare Him room,
And heav'n and
"When I survey the wondrous cross, On which the Prince of Glory died"?
These and more than 600 other hymns were written by Isaac Watts, which he began writing as a teen!
Young Isaac's father ran a boarding school and he taught Isaac five languages before he was fourteen years old!
"Let no man despise thy youth" (1 Timothy 4:12a).
Youth is the time for LEARNING. Then set you goal even now to do just that. Apply yourself to wisdom and to learning.
Johann Sebastian Bach
One of my favorite compositions by Bach is
"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."
Johann was the yougest of five children, having three older brothers and one sister. In school he studied orthdox Lutherism, logic, rhetoric, Latin and Greek, arithmitic, history, geography and German poetry.
He was born March 21, 1685 and as a teen attended Lyceum until 1700. He also studied natural science.
In Bach's Bible, at 1 Chronicles 25, which tells of King David commissioning the temple musicians, Bach wrote this note: "This chapter is the true foundation for all God-pleasing music." Bach would travel by foot many miles, like 30 or 60 miles or more, just to hear a famous organist play church music. Once he got off work with a month's leave to make a 200-mile trip by foot to hear a famous organist in Lubeck. Three years later he announced his life's purpose. It was to create
"well-regulated church music to the glory of God."
Bach was a keyboard virtuoso, mastering the organ and also the harpsichord. He received formal lessons but was largely self-taught. He received his first lesson in organ before he was even a teen-ager.

So what do you want to be when you grow up? A few times I have seen a well-known musician on TV. He says when he was young, he did not say he wanted to be IN an orchestra, but he wanted to BE an orchestra.
And WOW! What an orchestra he is! He tickles the keys of multiple keyboards, and makes music even with his feet on the pedals. He composes symphonies "on the spot" and the music that comes out sounds just like a large orchestra. And the money he receives with his performing, he GIVES a large part away to charities.
Maybe you have no interest in becoming a musician. Maybe you want to be an astronaut, a jet pilot, a
police chief, or a policeman, or a highway patrolman.
Maybe you want to be a doctor, a nurse, or a teacher.
Maybe you want to want to become a fireman, or you may want to manage or own a business. Maybe you want to be a scientist or an inventor. Maybe you love animals and want to become a veterinarian.
These and more are worthy goals. But have you thought about being a SERVANT?
Ah, I bet you haven't! But think about it. What good would you be in any of these professions if you were not also a SERVANT, having a servant's heart? That means the MOTIVATION and PURPOSE of your choice profession is not for self-glory, or for high income, but because you LOVE people, and want to help and
serve people. Only then can you become a success!
Think about it even further. The God of the universe
came to earth in the form of a man, the man Christ Jesus. Though He made everything that was ever
created, including you and me, He came not to be served by others, but He came to serve. He came as a servant! And He tells us to serve one another. He certainly does!
But how can you begin doing that even NOW? Well,
if you look around you, can you see any little thing you can do daily, or weekly to help your mom and dad? If you have brothers or sisters, do you see something that you could do for them that might surprise them? Do you perhaps have an elderly neighbor that might need his or her yard mowed, or the leaves raked? Does the garbage in your house need to be carried out? Do the dishes need to be washed? Maybe your mom is tired from working all day. How can you help her? You are not too young to learn to make the beds.
Well, I could go on an on, but I think you get the point.
So in all your getting and becoming, I hope you can have it in your heart to also BE A SERVANT!
A Remarkable Blind 5-year-old Plays
This is a note to all dating-age or
"marrying-age" young people:
When you see such young people as you see in the above music videos, even such a precious little sweetheart as
Maitlyn Maher as she sings, and then you
realize that in America alone there have been some 53 MILLION abortions since
1973 (I would hate to think of the number world-wide) and you realize these millions
lives have been snuffed out before they had a chance to see the light of day, AND THEY
HAD NO CHOICE in the matter, I hope you then realize what a dastardly crime that abortion is. I hope and pray you will determine in your own heart that NO WAY will YOU ever submit to any suggestion to
have or agree to another to have an abortion.
Just say, "NO WAY, so help me God!"
You would not have wanted YOUR life to be snuffed out and you "not have a say so" in the matter. Nor would you like to think these talented young people you see above could
have been aborted instead of living on earth
to bless us with their talents. Yet those who
were so innocent and yet were aborted, they, too, could have been allowed to live to potentially become like these talented young people.
So you, young reader, are but one one person, but you can at least commit in your
heart that YOU will NEVER commit such a
crime against nature, and against innocent
little babies. May it be.
